This, I believe, will be a series of articles were I talk about my interests in music.
Starting in this point, I have on my iPhone 136 albums, 1667 songs, and 0 musical videos.
After a time were I almost only hear to Incubus, an excellent group of Alternative Rock/Funk Rock, I’m listening to, mostly, Britpop music, but keeping listening to Incubus and other alternative rock groups, like Foo Fighters and Audioslave. Right now, I’m listening to Keane, the album Perfect Symmetry. I like very much this group, because it has something you don’t see every day, they play piano rock, a genre I’d not know about since I hear to them. In this genre, instead of playing guitar, they use the piano; I like the guitar, but this style… I love it. From Keane, I like specially the song You don’t See Me, from the same album I just mentioned.
One of my favorites is Coldplay, it’s unique, its genre is indescribable. I love it songs, the lyrics and the music, together, beautiful. The lyrics of Politik, the sounds on Life in Technicolor, the meaning of Viva la Vida… Really like this group.
Talking about other genre, Incubus. Their style is in constant change, always doing different things. Their first two albums are metal, maybe trash or nu metal (I don’t know very well the subdivisions, actually). The third album, Make Yourself, change completely their music, to a more funk/jazz rock, and not so metal; they actually became famous ’cause the single Drive, from that album. With this album it’s seen that they had matured (I’m talking about their music), with a more clean style, with lyrics with more sense (edit: an original metaphorical sense, sure). Later, they released Morning View and A Crow Left Of the Murder, both different from each other, in lyrics and music. In Morning View they are very very soft, with slow, or quiet, songs, like Wish You Were Here, or Aqueous Transmission. In ACLOTM they have a music a bit more obscure, maybe it’s just the album’s illustration (xD); but the lyrics, almost all of them, talk about people, well, that’s my opinion: Megalomaniac, Agoraphobia, Talk Show On Mute,Sick Sad Little World, Zee Deveel, Here In My Room… Well, you need to hear them, then can you leave your opinion?
Also, I like Grunge, an alternative-like style. Grunge means “Garbage”, so you could imagine the sounds are a little rude, maybe. From this genre I like specially Nickelback, Nirvana and Alice In Chains, going something like /happy-normal-depressive/ so I like a lot more Nickelback than the other two, but I respect Nirvana; it’s an awesome band, with very nice songs and all, but sometimes I seem them a bit sad… Don’t know, keeping listening to Nickelback.
Well that’s it; these are my favorite groups, sadly I couldn’t talk about Muse, or Oasis, but now, these are my favorites. So, I like alternative rock, mostly britpop, then grunge, and hard rock too (I’d not tell that). My favorite ever is Incubus, then come the britpop one, Coldplay, Keane, Oasis, then Nickelback, Foo Fighters, and much others… Anyway, that was my article ;)
