In the second half of the match, Real Madrid pulled one back through Rodrygo, who scored in the 50th minute for the 2-1. Fernandez made it 2-2 in the 83rd minute, and Madrid striker Karim Benzema kicked in extra time and made it 3-2 for Real Madrid.
Following this result, Real Madrid reach 75 points and are 15 points behind Barcelona and Sevilla. The Catalans, however, have two more games to play and can move within nine points of their rivals.
Real Madrid travel to Osasuna in the next round of La Liga, while Sevilla will play alongside absentee Levante.
For Benzema, it was the 25th goal of this edition of the championship. The Frenchman leads the top scorers, with ten wins ahead of Espanyol’s Raul de Tomas and Getafe’s Enes Unal.
